Management Team

COK has a management structure that is designed to support the organization’s strategies for growth and development. At the helm of COK is Mrs. Brenda Cuthbert. Supporting her are three Senior Managers, Jacqueline Mighty, DGM Operations, Mrs. Michelle Morris - DGM Finance and Investments and Michael Steele, DGM Marketing, five Branch Managers, Assistant General Manager, Credit & Operations; Treasury & Financial Services Manager; Risk Manager, a Human Resource and Learning Manager,  Marketing Manager,  Registry Manager,  Credit Manager,  Debt Recovery Manager, Accounting Manager,  Internal Auditor, MIS Manager and a Legal Advisor.

 Brenda Cuthbert B.Sc. (Hons.), M.B.A. - General Manager

Mrs. Cuthbert took the helm in October 2002, bringing to COK expertise in leadership developed over 20 years in banking as Agricultural Projects advisor, Group Marketing Manager and Corporate Relationship Banking Manager at the National Commercial Bank and chairperson of the Board of the NCB Employees Co-operative Credit Union.

Her many personal and academic achievements include, being the first Jamaican female graduate of the University of the West Indies' Faculty of Agriculture. A Hubert Humphrey Fellow, Mrs. Cuthbert completed a double Masters in Agri-business Management and Finance at the Colorado State University. She also completed a Masters in Business Administration and a Diploma in Executive Business Management at the Nova Southeastern University and the Wharton School of Business respectively.--

 Deeply committed to improving human welfare, Mrs. Cuthbert devotes much of her time to voluntary service. She has served as chairperson for the Elsie Bemand Home for Girls, chairperson of the Sts. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church Council, Immaculate Conception High School Alumni Association and the St. Andrew Business & Professional Women's Club.

After a long day, Mrs. Cuthbert unwinds by relaxing with family, dancing or playing cards. She is happily married to Fred, and is the proud mother of two adult children and two grandchildren.

 

Michelle M. Morris - Deputy General Manager - Finance and Investment

 Michelle Morris joined COK in 2003 after a dynamic career in the financial sector, starting at PricewaterhouseCoopers, then holding senior management positions at Capital and Credit Merchant Bank, George and Branday and First Global Bank where she gained a wealth of banking experience.

She holds a BSc. in Accounting (Hons.) earned on an IBM scholarship to the University of the West Indies, and is a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA) and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) who has special interest in bridging Information Technology and Accounting. At COK, she is responsible for Corporate Performance Measurement and Reporting and includes the Treasury, Accounting, Cambio and Remittance functions.

The St. Andrew High School graduate prides herself on being able to meet deadlines, work efficiently under pressure and communicate well with all levels of staff.

Mrs. Morris is proud of her two sons, and enjoys reading, listening to music and playing badminton.

 Michael Steele - Deputy General Manager - Marketing

 Mr. Steele is a professional management and marketing practitioner with over twelve (12) years experience in brand/product development; advertising and public relations; demand forecasting; budgeting and customer relationship management (CRM). He is particularly adept at managing human and financial resources with an enviable track record of sales and customer service success.

His vast experience garnered in Jamaica and overseas includes serving as brand manager for Gillette Caribbean Limited, general manager of Petroleum Company of Jamaica (PETCOM) PetroCanada, vice president Marketing & Sales, Blue Cross of Jamaica/Independent B.C. of Philadelphia and most recently as general manager (U.S.A. operations) of the National Commercial Bank (U.S.A.).

Mr. Steele who holds an M.B.A. in Finance & Marketing from Ohio University and a B.Sc. Hons. in Management Studies awarded by the University of the West Indies is poised to assist in enhancing the profile of the credit union. With his level of experience, he is also well equipped to play a significant role in increasing effective communication between COK and our over 213, 000 members.

 

 Ewan Shaw – Assistant General Manager, Credit & Operations 

 Ewan Shaw has performed the roles of Member Services Manager and Manager of the Cross Roads branch of COK Co-operative Credit Union, and is currently the Assistant General Manager, Credit and Operations. He has had a dynamic career in the financial sector, covering the Bank of Jamaica, Victoria Mutual Building Society, Manufacturers’ Merchant Bank Limited and Billy Craig Finance and Merchant Bank Ltd./Dehring Bunting and Golding Ltd. and International  Trust and Merchant Bank Limited.

The Calabar High School Graduate holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies, a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance from the Manchester Business School, UK, a B.A. in History and Economics and an MBA in Banking and Finance from the Mona School of Business.

 
Mr. Shaw is a specialist in Credit Assessment Techniques (CAT), Risk Based Lending, Micro Enterprise Lending, Advanced Credit, Credit Administration, Asset Liability Management, Delinquency Management, Competitive Lending and Customer Relations Management. 
 
He is a member of Kiwanis Club of Kingston and the Calabar Old Boys Association and a part time lecturer at the University of Technology. He enjoys reading, soccer, cricket, badminton, squash, tennis and teaching

 

 Indera Persaud - Legal Advisor

Ms. Indera Persaud, Atty-at-law has been practising for more than 16 years. She served in Jamaica's Legal Aid clinic for three years before returning to Guyana in 1990 where she practiced with the Law firm Luckhoo and Luckhoo.

In 1993 she was awarded the Commonwealth Young Lawyers Scholarship to study at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies - University of London. On returning to Jamaica in 1994, she assumed the position of Legal Advisor to the City of Kingston Co-operative Credit Union.

In 1996, Mrs. Persaud was appointed Honorary Consul to Guyana and holds offices at 66 Slipe Road, Kingston 5.

She is married to Dr. Dayanand Sawh, consultant orthopedic surgeon at the Bustamante Hospital for Children; they are parents of three daughters.

 

 Shaun D. K. Barrett-Radcliffe — MIS Manager

With more than 10 years experience in the IT field, Shaun’s passion remains that of deploying the most appropriate IT solution to increase productivity, reduce inefficiency and generate profits for the companies which she serves. Shaun, a firm believer in utilizing the latest technology, is a stickler for quality and benchmarks the work done by all MIS personnel including herself against international standards. 

Shaun posses a first degree in Computer Studies and a Masters in Business Administration, specializing in Finance. The knowledge of information technology and finance has enabled Shaun to develop and deploy appropriate technological solutions which meets the financial needs of COK. Her experience in system development and project management has enabled her to effectively manage the various projects being undertaken by the IT department.

 

To relax,Shaun enjoys traveling within the island and overseas, reading and watching good

detective movies such as Law & Order.

 

Norman Alleyne — Branch Manager, Cross Roads

Norman Alleyne is a dynamic manager with an interactive and communicative leadership style.
 
Schooled at St. Jago High, with a diploma in Marketing from UTECH and a B.Sc. from the University of the West Indies, Mr. Alleyne, continues to further his studies and has completed his MBA at Nova University in 2005.
 
Prior to being promoted to Branch Manager at COK, Mr. Alleyne was the Member Services Manager and a Processing Manager. He had previously worked at Air Jamaica as the supervisor in charge of banking.
 
A well-rounded individual, Mr. Alleyne is a former member of the Optimist Club of Eltham Park and a current member of United Way of Jamaica. He enjoys sporting activities such as hiking and football.

 Patricia Walker – Branch Manager, Half Way Tree

Mrs. Patricia Walker has served COK for more than 2 decades, working her way up from being clerk/typist, to communication center supervisor, administrative manager, marketing manager, member service manager, branch manager, debt recovery manager to her present position as branch manager, Half Way Tree.

Her successful, vibrant career at COK has made her a repository of knowledge of operational procedures and the history of COK since the 70's. As manager of the debt recovery portfolio, she is responsible for minimizing bad debt and delinquency.

Mrs. Walker's professional path has been matched by academic progress. She has a BSc in Administrative Management from the University of Technology, a Certificate in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies and an MBA from the University of New Orleans.

She enjoys singing, cooking, netball and entertaining. She is also actively involved in several civic and professional organizations.

 

  Anthony A. Morris- Internal Audit Manager

Anthony Morris - Internal Audit ManagerMr. Morris is a past student of Manchester High School and the University of Technology where he received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (BBA). He later pursued postgraduate studies with the University of Manchester/Manchester Business School, where he earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a Finance major.

Prior to joining the COK, Mr. Morris served with National Commercial Bank in Banking Operations then moved on to National Water Commission as Assistant Internal Auditor. He also served in the Jamaica Defence Force (National Reserve) for six years.

 He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors (ACUIA). He is also the director and choirmaster for a 40-voice gospel choir.

Anthony is married to Andrea and has two children, Christopher and Kimberly.

 

 Leroy Stewart – Branch Manager, Portmore

With more than 20 years experience in banking, Leroy Stewart is the highly effective, results-oriented manager of COK’s Portmore Branch.

After attending Knockalva High School and later Mico Teachers’ College, Mr. Stewart went on to earn a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of the West Indies.

Mr. Stewart has worked with First Caribbean Bank, National Insurance Company, Mutual Security Bank and National Commercial Bank and from these experiences has developed a range of management competencies. He specializes in personal and business financial counseling and is a specialist advisor in loans and credit.

An avid sports fan, Mr. Stewart played cricket and football up to the parish level and keeps abreast of developments in various sports. He is a member of the Portmore Chamber of Commerce and a former treasurer of the Rotary Club of Port Antonio.

 

 Sharon Carey - Branch Manager, Montego Bay

Sharon Carey - Branch Manager, Montego BayWith almost 25 years of experience in banking and finance, Sharon Carey is an expert in business process management. She has a strong track record of developing and reorganizing branch procedures in ways that have resulted in efficient customer service delivery. She has also led the creation and development of business units by recruiting, training and motivating new and existing staff members.

Mrs. Carey has held positions in key areas of banking operations including serving as Savings Supervisor, Credit Officer and Accounts Manager at the National Commercial Bank and as Senior Officer in charge of Branch Operations at Pan Caribbean Merchant Bank.

An alumnus of Mount Alvernia High, Mrs. Carey is happily married to David and is the proud mother of three. 

 

Delroy Graham - Branch Manager, Mandeville

Delroy Graham

With over twenty-five (25) years’ experience in Marketing and Sales, Delroy Graham honed his expertise  developing and promoting COK’s products and services.  He was instrumental in developing and maintaining COK’s off-shore member relations, especially in the Cayman Islands.

 

Delroy moved from Marketing and Sales to operations as Assistant Manager and grew to hold the position of Branch Manager to the Mandeville Branch.

 

An old boy of St. Elizabeth Techncial High School, he is an avid sports enthusiast and a lover of a good game of dominoes.

 

Delroy Graham holds a MBA in Banking & Finance from the Mona School of Business.

 

Gaye Ingram-Williams, Accounting Manager

Mrs. Ingram-Williams' managerial and organizational strengths have contributed to the creation of a well-structured accounting department with highly efficient procedures. She is keen on motivating her staff to operate at high standards and sets daily and weekly targets for herself and team to meet.

Before joining COK, she was Chief Accountant with the Coffee Industry Board and Finance Manager with British Airways. She is a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and a graduate of the University of the West Indies, Mona, from which she earned a B.Sc (Hons) in Accounts.

When she isn't doing the numbers, Mrs. Ingram unwinds by sewing and gardening

 

 Sean Cousins – Treasury and Financial Services Manager

Sean Cousins is the Treasury and Financial Services Manager at the City of Kingston Co-operative Credit Union, where he is in charge of the multi-billion dollar savings and investment portfolio.

One of COK’s youngest team leaders, Sean has had over ten years of experience in various finance related areas including internal audit and remittance services. In addition to managing COK’s $3B savings deposits, he oversees the Cambio and Remittance operations.

Sean has an MBA from Nova University in Jamaica and a BSc. in Accounting from St. Leo University in Tampa Florida. He also successfully completed the Securities Course at the Jamaican Institute of Management.

An avid sports fan, Sean spent four years playing defence and mid-field on the National Collegiate Athletic Association football circuit while at St. Leo University.

 

Stephen Wallder – Human Resources and Learning Manager

With over fifteen years’ experience working in human resources and learning. Steve has gained wide experience through working around the world, having been based in the United Kingdom, Canada and since 2000 in Jamaica. It is with a global perspective that Steve undertakes his role in the development of COK’s Human Resource and Learning ambitions. Aligned with COK’s strategic direction Human Resource & Learning is focused on developing, supporting and motivating staff so that it delivers efficient, proactive world class service to its membership.  

As well as this focus, Steve, with his experience in the global marketplace has worked with a number of major public and private sector institutions in Jamaica in the field of Corporate, Strategic Development, with a particular focus on ensuring that the ‘Vision” is right! As a qualified and experienced facilitator at University, Colleges &  Training Institutions he has actively developed curricula and learning methodologies to ensure the quality & relevance of the material and the mode through which learning can take place. Further, Steve became extensively involved in further developing institutional learning through online, distance learning & played a major part in developing the Caribbean’s first online learning delivery portal with the Management Institute for National Development (MIND).

Steve holds an MBA from The University of Westminster, London, UK.

 

Cecile McCormack - Marketing and Business Development Manager

Cecile McCormack joined COK in June 2007 in the capacity of Marketing & Business Development Manager. Prior to COK, she worked at GraceKennedy Limited for just over eight years, where she ended her tenure as the head of the Research & Strategic Planning Department.

 
She has worked extensively in the field of research, having begun as a statistician at the Statistical Institute of Jamaica, and transitioned into research in the fields of housing (NHT), human resource, customer and market research (GraceKennedy). Having worked closely with the marketing department at COK was a natural fit.
 

Mrs. McCormack is a certified professional researcher (PRC), a designation received from the Marketing Research Association (MRA) in 2006. She holds a B. Sc Degree in International Relations and an MBA (Human Resource Management), both attained at the University of the West Indies after completing studies at Bishop Gibson High, Wolmer’s Girls’ School and EXED Community College. She lectures research part time at the University of Technology & the Staff College (Jamaica Police Academy), and is an avid sports person who enjoys netball, athletics and table tennis. Mrs. McCormack is the 2nd Vice President of the Jamaica Table Tennis Association.

 

Adele Merritt Bernard - Records Manager

 Mrs. Adele Merritt Bernard is dedicated to promoting an understanding and appreciation of the fields of Librarianship and Records and Information Management (RIM).

Mrs. Merritt Bernard is therefore intimately involved in librarianship and has served as treasurer, secretary and member or chairman of various committees of the Library and Information Association of Jamaica (LIAJA). She is also the current President of the Association of Caribbean University, Research & Institutional Libraries (ACURIL), whose membership is comprised of information professionals from the Spanish, French, Dutch and English-speaking Caribbean.

A graduate of UWI, St. Augustine with a B. A. in History, Mrs. Merritt Bernard went on to pursue postgraduate work at UWI, Mona, and has a Masters in Library and Information Studies. She is also certified in Records and Information Management.

She is the former Head of the Information Systems Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Reference and Instructional Technology Librarian of Nova Southeastern University.

Beyond her capabilities in librarianship, Mrs. Merritt Bernard is a trained lifeguard and loves anything to do with the sea. Married, with two toddlers, Mrs. Merritt Bernard has limited free time, but she hopes to one day realize her dream of learning to play the flute. 

 

 

 Mark Escoffery, Acting Collections Manager/Paralegal

Mark Escoffery joined COK in July of 1995 in the capacity as Paralegal in the Legal Department. In 2006 when the Legal Department was restructured he was asked to manage the new unit, under the guidance of the Senior Manager, Credit Administration. In September of 2007 he was appointed to the position of Collections Manager (Acting) and now has responsibility for the Legal and Debt Recovery Units.

 

He has worked extensively in the Legal profession having begun as a Clerk at the Supreme Court of Judicature and then for over ten years as a Legal Clerk at the law firm of Rattray Patterson Rattray, in the Conveyance and Litigation departments. Prior to joining COK, Mark worked for one year at the then Trafalgar Development Bank, also as a Paralegal with specific responsibility for the drafting and execution of all legal documents.

 

Vevine Cameron, Credit Manager

Mrs. Vevine Cameron joined the COK family in January 2008. She comes to the Credit Union with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of Credit Administration and Operations gained from National Commercial Bank where she spent nineteen (19) years.

 

She is a past student of Westwood High School and a graduate of the University of the West Indies where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Accounting-Upper Second Class Honours. She is now in the final stages (thesis) of completing her Masters in Finance from Manchester Business School, UK.

 

She enjoys event planning …..you name it and she will plan it for you.

 

She is married and has two children.
