COK Embraces Technology at its 41st Annual General Meeting
COK, the leader of the Jamaican credit union movement, has created another first with the streaming of its 41st Annual General Meeting live across the internet.
Under the theme "Leveraging Technology to Serve our Members Better', COK was successfully able to allow its members all across Jamaica and overseas to participate in the event held on May 14 at the Hilton Kingston Hotel.
Just over 440 persons including members in Cayman, the USA and the UK joined the close to 700 registered members at the event through the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) and COK websites. Staff and members in Mandeville and Montego Bay also participated in the 4-hour meeting.
Brenda Cuthbert, General Manager indicated that "our desire to improve our service to our members, and to meet their needs, must be driven by the use of available technology and this is what COK did. As we grow our business and as Jamaicans migrate, it is important that we maintain our relevance to them as a credit union." Mrs. Cuthbert was quick to point out that COK serves over 2000 members in the Cayman Islands, where the live feed was coordinated by Delroy Graham, Mandeville 's Branch Manager.
Two highlights of the 41st AGM were the official launch of the redesigned website , which now
features COK ONLINE BANKING and the re-branded retirement scheme, the COK PENSION PLAN.
The new website is described by Cecile McCormack, Marketing and Business Development Manager, as "an interactive, informative website which facilitates communication between the members and COK, and which satisfies our members'
need for convenient banking", went live on June 1, 2008.
The renewed COK PENSION PLAN is a pension product specifically for self-employed individuals, contractual workers and employed workers who are not currently on a pension plan.
