COK, the leader of the Jamaican credit union movement, has created another first with the streaming of its 41st Annual General Meeting live across the internet.

Under the theme "Leveraging Technology to Serve our Members Better', COK was successfully able to allow its members all across Jamaica and overseas to participate in the event held on May 14 at the Hilton Kingston Hotel.

COK Co-operative Credit Union has partnered with CaribCash Remittance services to offer our members and the wider Jamaican public, another remittance option.  Discussions on the partnership began in early 2007, and culminated with an agreement towards the end of the year, which now sees COK and our local sub agents partnering to increase the options available to senders.

For the first time in the organization's history, two new locations were opened three days. On Monday, December 10, the new Half Way Tree branch, relocated to Units 9 and 10, Winchester Business Center, 15 Hope Road, Kingston 10, opened its doors to welcome members.

Many workers, especially those in the younger age groups, mistakenly believe that retirement planning should begin closer to the golden age of 60, rather than as soon as they receive their first pay check. As a result, retirement often creeps up and we are caught off guard! Today, just about 10% of the Jamaican workforce are members of occupational pension plans.
